1 Month Visit to Dr. Pollard...
Today was Ryker's one month doctor's visit and the first time he and I ventured out on our own. He passed out as soon as we started driving (which he gets from his daddy) so the ride there and back was pretty uneventful. He is doing great. He weighed 10 lbs 8 oz and is still close to 22 inches. His head is now 14 3/4 inches. Unfortunately, he had to have his second hepatitis vaccine which broke my heart (Ryan was upset too, he wanted to be there when he got any shots). Ryker only cried for a few seconds and seems to be doing well. I tried to go get some children's Tylenol however no stores in Grovetown have any because of the recall. I am waiting on Ryan to get home so I can go to Wal-Mart. I don't think Frogman is ready for that trip yet!

Save the Planet?!
In an attempt to be more GREEN, me and Ryan decided to try out the 'g' diapers (we are still using regular diapers due to the convenience, at least for now). Basically the diapers are cloth on the outside with a refillable biodegradable insert on the inside. The inserts can be thrown away, flushed or put in a garden compost (there is no plastic on the diapers which is what makes it 100% biodegradable). They are also available in cloth which we did not purchase but may if Ryker ever develops a rash. The 'g' diapers are pretty easy to use (they just take a little extra time) and they are super cute.
Now, yesterday was the first day we used them and we were invited to our neighbor's house for dinner. Ryker dirtied his first ever 'g' and I changed him and flushed the evidence. There is a whole process to flushing the 'g' so that it will dissolve. I, apparently, neglected to complete the process appropriately and managed to clog my neighbor's toilet for several hours. Luckily, Ryan and Rick were able to fix the clog! We still plan on using these diapers however I think we are going to go with the tossing option!

He is hitting the bottle!
Today we introduced Ryker to the bottle. He is still going to be breastfed however we need him to eventually take a bottle when I return to school or if I have to be away for any other reason. He did a great job. It only took a second for him to figure it out and drink it down. It was fun watching Ryan be able to feed him. It was a little hard for me to have to stay away while he ate because I love our feeding time (except in the middle of the night) but I managed to just watch and snap photos!

Frogman is 3 weeks!
Foggie is 3 weeks old now. He finally lost his umbilical cord yesterday (which I then lost on the floor and had to find). Changing diapers is much easier now that we don't have to use alcohol and vaseline everytime. He is sleeping pretty good at night usually wakes up 3 times between around 11 pm and 7 am. I have not figured out yet whether it is better to wake him or not. During the day, I will get him up to eat but at night unless he has been sleeping for more that 4 hours I don't even consider it.
Time is flying by. It doesn't feel like he should already be 3 weeks old. I try to remember that when I start thinking about how I wish he was sleeping through the night. He has gone for a ride in his stroller aka The Cadillac and he loved it. He went right to sleep! He is also beginning to have more facial expressions even smiling at us.

Daddy's first day back at work...
Today was Ryan's first day back to work so it was just me and Ryker all day. It was a bit exhausting because he was fussy for several hours. He did sleep for a while which gave me a chance to clean up some and surf the net. Ryan seemed to miss him a lot. I can't imagine having to leave him for 8 hours to go to work. Even though I have moments that I feel like I can barely keep my eyes open, I try to remember how lucky I am to be able to stay home with Ryker. I will never be able to get back missed moments with him and I love that I get to see how he changes daily. I love Ryan for understanding how important this is and being supportive. All the sacrifices we will make while I am not working will be so worth it!

2 Week Doctor Visit
We ventured out for Ryker's 2 week old doctor visit with our new doctor. Dr. Pollard is awesome. Ryan liked him because he has kids and speaks from both a medical and personal point of view. Ryker weighed 9 lbs 10 oz, is 22 inches long, and his head is still 14 1/4 inches. He is very strong, he is already holding his head up and looking around. All the nurses thought he was a cutie (we agree)! He goes back in 2 weeks for another check up. Until then we are to continue doing what we are doing.
